About the project
Capture Arnold is a not-for-profit passion project led by and for the community. Our mission is simple: to inspire local people to document real life in Arnold across a full calendar year.
The idea came about after a long-time member of the Arnold community sadly and unexpectedly passed away. A familiar face and acquaintance to many, now no longer with us. This prompted us to think of ways we could capture the people and places of Arnold – as they look today – so future residents could look back to see how we all lived, thrived, and enjoyed Arnold life in 2025 / 26.
Conversations with local councilors and other helpful parties followed, and Capture Arnold was born.
Just to reiterate – this is very much what they call a passion project. There's no financial gain for anyone involved, but a real sense of pride for playing a small part in showing how much we love our local town.
We believe every street, shop, park, and person has a story worth telling, and we want to preserve those stories through photography. At a time when everyone has a cameraphone, but so many day-to-day memories of life in our town go undocumented, this is a call to action for us all to come together and contribute to a lasting historical archive of our great hometown of Arnold.
Once the project is complete, our community's photographic contributions will form a lasting part of the Nottinghamshire Archives, to be kept digitally safe and shared with future generations.
Together, we’re creating a living time capsule of Arnold – with your help and through your lens.
