We fully appreciate that this probably feels like overkill for a not-for-profit, small community initiative, but Just to protect you - and us - here are some basic competition and website T+Cs. Thanks for your understanding!
1. Organiser
The photography competition element of this community venture is organised by capturearnold.org, based in the United Kingdom (“the Organiser”).
2. Eligibility
• The competition is open to UK residents only.
• Entrants must be 18 years or over at the time of entry.
• Employees, contractors or volunteers of the Organiser (and their close relatives) are not eligible to enter.
• By entering, each participant confirms that they meet these eligibility requirements.
3. How to Enter
Entry is free.
4. Entry Rules
• All photographs must be the original work of the entrant.
• The photo must not infringe anyone’s copyright, moral rights, or privacy.
• If people are shown in the photograph, you must have their permission (and if under 18, permission from a parent or guardian).
• Minor editing (cropping, colour correction, exposure adjustment) is allowed, but major digital manipulation (adding or removing elements) is not.
• By submitting a photo, entrants confirm that they own the image and have the right to give permission for its use.
5. Copyright and Usage
• Entrants retain full copyright of their photographs.
• By entering, you grant the Organiser a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to use, display, and publish your image (with credit) in connection with the competition - including online, in print, exhibitions, and promotional materials.
• Any future commercial use will only occur with the entrant’s permission.
7. Judging and Prizes
• A panel of judges selected by the Organiser will review all valid entries.
• Entries will be judged on creativity, originality, technical quality, and relevance to the theme.
• The judges’ decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
• Winners will be notified by [email/phone] by [date].
🎁 Prizes
• Overall Winner: A crystal trophy and a Max Spielmann photo printing voucher (value TBC).
• Category Winners: Max Spielmann photo printing vouchers (value TBC).
• Special Winter Wonderland Prize: For photographs taken in Nottingham Market Square during November or December 2025, winners will receive vouchers covering entry costs to selected attractions at the Winter Wonderland event.
• Prizes are non-transferable, non-exchangeable, and no cash alternatives are offered.
• The Organiser reserves the right to substitute prizes of equal or greater value if required.
8. Data Protection
• Personal information will only be used to administer the competition and communicate with entrants.
• The Organiser will handle personal data in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and its privacy policy.
• Data will not be shared with third parties unless required for prize fulfilment or by law.
9. Liability
• The Organiser accepts no responsibility for entries that are lost, delayed, misdirected, or corrupted for any technical reason.
• Entrants take part at their own risk.
• The Organiser reserves the right to cancel or amend the competition if necessary due to circumstances beyond its control.
10. Agreement to Rules
By submitting an entry, participants agree to these Terms and Conditions and confirm that their entry complies with all rules.
11. Governing Law
These Terms and Conditions are governed by English law, and any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
